SERVPRO of East Nashville, Madison & Goodlettsville Causes of Water Damage

What can cause water damage?

Often at SERVPRO in East Nashville Maddison & Goodlettsville, we respond to water damage in homes and businesses after the damage has already occurred. It is not uncommon for us to hear homeowners and business owners say they wish they aware of what was happening before it turned out so devastating and costly.

Unwanted water in the home can come from several places from faulty or old appliances to leaky/cracked pipes. When you first notice water be sure to turn off your water main (make sure you determine where that is on your property). Then call your insurance agent or SERVPRO (615) 488-8670 - if the water damage is substantial.

Some common water issues can occur from the below. We recommend you spend time to look through the below and check your home or business.

Leaking Pipes (or even broken pipes)

A busted pipe - or a leaking pipe is one of the more common reasons we at SERVPRO see water damage in homes. This can happen due to temperature changes - since we are entering the colder season, this is a very important item to check on. It can also be caused due to unregulated water pressure - it is a good idea to have your water pressure checked to make sure your home is safe.

Faulty Appliances:

Washing machines, hot water tanks, dishwashers, and refrigerators are common water disasters. Cracked pipes or hoses going into appliances should be checked regularly to make sure they look solid and free from cracks or drying. If you notice a pipe or hose that looks deteriorated - we recommend you look into changing it. Also, if you notice the smallest of leaks - get that appliance checked as soon as possible.

Issues with Plumbing:

Toilets, showers, and faucets are items in your home that can often have water issues and go a long time without even being noticed. It is a good idea to have annual checks done by professionals to make sure that your plumbing is not having any issues. Being proactive can save a lot of heartache in the future.

We at SERVPRO in East Nashville understand that you are often surprised by water accumulation. Please take a moment and see everything that we do every day to makes sure your home is restored to the way it was (SEE HERE).
